On June 6, 2015, over 30,000 rubber ducks were raced down the Eno river, in what has become a major fundraising event for Rotary in Chapel Hill for many years. The Chapel Hill Sunrise Rotary Club organizes the event, with help from partners such as the Rotary Club of Chapel Hill and the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club.
Proceeds from the race (about $35,000 in 2015) support Rotary’s polio eradication efforts; a myriad of community service and economic development projects at home and abroad; leadership training for our youth; and a range of international exchange programs.
Because Rotary service projects are administered by Rotarians, fundraising dollars go almost 100 percent to support targeted charities. Our Rotary Club serves the community through the Hyatt Awards and grants to local charities, among other things.
This year we had 20 winners of excellent prizes, including Barbara Pipkin from our club.

- $1,000 American Express Gift Card
