Start of In-Person Meetings and Changes to Dues

We’re excited to go back to meeting in person. I can’t imagine how fun it will be to see you in real life and at a Chapel Hill Rotary Club meeting on July 13th.

Tim and I met with the Chapel Hill Country Club manager and F&B director to plan our return to in person meetings at the club. Thanks again to Don Boulton for setting this in motion. We focused on the number of meals each week and cost per meal.

Before the Pandemic, we were required to meet an increasingly challenging meal minimum – close to full attendance. This meant that our regular members had to pay for a meal each and every meeting regardless of attendance. Whether you attended 39 meetings, 3, or 9, you paid the same. This made our dues rather hefty, but kept down the cost of each meal. Rule of 85 members, however, only paid for meals they consumed.

We will no longer have to pay for a minimum number of meals; the price per meal, however, has gone up due to increased food prices resulting from the Pandemic.

On the other hand, we shall only pay for the meals we actually consume. Among many other benefits, those who cannot attend regularly can remain members without a financial burden.

As we all adjust to our new normal, the board will be monitoring attendance closely. We are open to considering other options in the future and.

Plan for Dues (at least for Q1)

  • All members will be billed as R-85 – meaning members will only be billed for meals based on attendance.  If you do not attend, you will not be charged for a meal.
  • All members will be billed the regular dues (same as the year of Zoom meetings) of $75 + $25 for the Rotary Foundation at the beginning of Q1
  • At the beginning of Q2, members will be billed for attendance/meals in Q1 + Q2 dues
  • Meal charge = $28

We will be providing a head count to CHCC on Monday evenings. Please RSVP using the link in the weekly newsletter no later than Monday at 5pm.
